The Pattern Shop

a debut literary fiction novel

Eleanorah has never backed down from a challenge—but when she realizes she can’t save her family or her patients, she trades her stethoscope for a mustard-colored backpack and a one-way ticket, only to discover she can’t outrun what she’s trying to escape.

For fans of Barbara Kingsolver, magical realism, and messy characters learning how to choose home over and over again.

Step inside THE PATTERN SHOP and enter a world full of longing and fragile hope—available in ebook, paperback, hardback, bundles, and exclusive signed author copies.

About Mariah

Mariah is a former ICU nurse turned author who traded her stethoscope for a pen, deciding words were their own kind of medicine. The Pattern Shop is her debut novel—about learning to choose home with a suitcase heart.  Her poetry has appeared in Poetry South, The Walnut Street Branch, and Entwined: Motherhood and Creativity. She also writes Heartbeats, a newsletter for women reclaiming their creative life from the margins (written by someone who did it slowly, imperfectly, and with a toddler in the next room).

She lives in Chattanooga, TN with her husband and son, where you'll find her in the garden, on a trail, or not following recipes in the kitchen.

Words are pocket lamps we carry with us, when all the light has gone out.

Mariah is a collector and curator of these words, navigating the world by constellations of sentences, stories, and fragile hope.

Whether it’s poetry inspired by the juxtaposition of grief and joy, literary fiction full of messy characters navigating their way home, or personal reflections on motherhood, creativity, and mental health, Mariah invites you to see and be seen.
